Fall Tour

We are back on the road again after a summer chocked full of activity.  We welcomed the arrival of our newest Granddaughter Veda Ellyana, who is the fifth girl in our flock of precious grands, and brings the current total to seven.  She was born on July 11th to the proud parents of Julie and Eli and to the delight of her brother Micah!

July also brought another change to our family as Maribeth, Ben, Olivia, and Wren moved to West Asheville, North Carolina.  They have been led of the Lord to be one of a number of families that have relocated to the area to plant a Church that is targeting the eclectic, diverse, and artsy folks that make up that city.  We sure hated to see them go but are excited about the vision the God has given them.

In September we resumed the RV Ministry that we have been so privileged to be involved in.  This spring we were able to see the season changes starting at home in Summerville in March, then on to Union Mills, North Carolina in April, and finishing up in New Freedom PA in May.

This fall we decided to reverse the order beginning up north and ending back in Summerville.  On September 11th we arrived in New Freedom PA at Summit Grove Camp.  We love to serve at Summit Grove as it offers us the opportunity to have a small impact on a place that has a major impact on the lives of countless youth and adults that utilize the sacred grounds here as they contemplate the truths of the Gospel of Christ.

Our time at Summit Grove also gives us the opportunity to visit with Jane's Dad on the weekends.  We were able to attend the wedding of Jane's nephew Brett Perry in Allentown PA.

We also were able to visit with Theda, a cousin of Jane's Mother who we were privileged to meet when we were here last fall.  Theda lives in Hanover.  It is always a pleasure to visit with her and learn about Jane's family.

In May you may remember we tackled the bath house in the campground.  We didn't anticipate the amount of effort the job would entail and were only able to complete the exterior renovations.

This time we moved inside and after a lot of elbow grease, scraping, sanding, and applying a fresh coat of paint on the walls and floor, were able to revitalize the inside of the facility. Jane and I were again the only couple here and that allowed us to work together once more which is a huge blessing.

There was plenty of room for improvement!

Don't let the pictures of just me working lead you to assume that I did all of the work.  She had the foresight to take the pictures.  I can assure you that Jane gave me plenty of supervision and "you missed that spot" encouragement.  Her roller and brush skills are exceptional!

Jane took an old chair that was in terrible shape and transformed it for the ladies room.

One of the ladies that lives in one of the summer cottages said that most of these types of projects lack the special touch that only a lady can offer.  The end result definately reflects that insight since Jane has the decorating touch for sure.

We finished up at Summit Grove on Friday, October 3rd and on Saturday departed heading for Leesburg VA to attend the wedding of our sweet friend and Rachel's maid of honor, Angela Muntean to Sam Boone on Sunday afternoon.  It was a beautiful setting outdoors at a hillside vineyard.  They are a special couple and we are so happy for them.

On Monday we traveled to Doe River Gorge located in the north east corner of Tennessee.  Doe River Gorge is a magnificent facility nestled in the mountains with a vision for reaching the next generation for Christ.  We are excited to be here.

It is such a privilege and honor to be able to serve God in such a unique way.  The folks we meet enable us to lend a helping hand or listening ear and we trust, brings them closer to the Lord Jesus as a result.  In a time of real uncertainty and turmoil in our world, it is the hope of the good news of Jesus that dispels anxiety and brings a certain peace that passes all understanding.  We trust that you are resting in the hollow of His hand. He is in complete control of all things.  Is He the Lord of your life is a most important question.

We will leave here the last week of October and return to Summerville.  We missed the torrential rains that have devastated our beloved state.  The after effects of the storm will take a long time to restore.  Your prayers for our fellow South Carolinians are coveted.  Our house was spared any damage for which we are very thankful to the Lord.

Until next time,

Godspeed,  Glenn and Jane
